The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.
Our Network Infrastructure Fixed Networks (NI FN) business group provides an array of “gigabit to the home” solutions to deliver data access to our communication service provider (CSP) customers. This includes Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) as well as 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), xDSL and cable upgrades. We build solutions that don’t stop at the home but also bring that gigabit experience into the home using our meshed Wi-Fi solution.

What you will learn and contribute to

Nokia Software-Defined Access Networks (SDAN) simplify the network in ways that renew your ability to scale while improving agility and keeping costs under control. Virtualization allows operators to automate the network and unlock new capabilities with smart, cloud-native access.
Our Practice team within Service Engineering Delivery department has been growing steadily and to reinforce it further we are looking for R&D Engineer to work in SDAN area, including Altiplano, Nokia’s cloud native Fixed Access Domain Controller. SDAN R&D Engineer conducts target-oriented research to directly apply findings to the specification, design, further development, and incremental improvement of products, services, systems, tools, processes, etc. Integrates, verifies, tests, and modifies SW / HW / system components and capitalizes on innovative solutions to meet particular requirements and specifications. 

Service Engineering Delivery – Fixed Networks Practice is looking for SDAN R&D Engineer, who will be responsible, for both internal and external customer projects, to provide the software development, integration, validation and implementation of new applications within an agile framework.

Your skills and experience

Job Responsibilities & Competencies

• Develops software for SDAN solutions
• Work with Fixed Networks technology domains like SDAN, Next Generation PON, etc.
• Write test cases to check and automate functionalities in existing environment

Qualifications

Required:

• Highly experienced minimum in one of the programming languages: Python, Java
• Willingness to develop Python, Java knowledge
• Knowledge of JavaScript on basic level
• Practical knowledge of MariaDB
• Very good knowledge of object-oriented programming
• Knowledge of React
• Experienced in using Django, Django Rest Framework
• Writing the unit test
• Practical knowledge of Webservices, WebSocket, API technology
• Knowledge of Docker, Docker-compose
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux programming
• Highly experienced in GIT

Desirable:

• Nokia product ISAM and LightSpan
• Restconf and NetConf protocols, Yang models concept
• Test-driven development (TDD)
• XML, XPath
• Knowledge of template engines, for example FreeMarker
• GitLab CI/CD
• Basic knowledge of Keycloak or similar authorization/authentication service
• Basic knowledge of some Open-Source software, like: Nginx, Celery, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Redis, Kafka

General skills:

• Have an academic background about Telecommunication or Software Programming
• Individual Contributor performs day-to-day activities to meet departmental/project objectives.
• Analytical mindset, capable of combining and analyzing information from several different sources
• Applied agile practices in software development
• Good in reading documentation (in English)
• Requires ability to communicate with functional leadership regarding team & technical matters
